Tuam Trad Festival Launch on "The Irish at Home & Abroad"

Ann Kirrane Thursday night starts the festival this year with a concert of Champions at the Ard Ri Hotel, featuring our very own Ann Kirrane as special guest on the night performing some of her favourite songs. Ann will also act as compère for the night and will introduce local prize-winners from Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2017, prize-winners from the Linda Martin School of Irish Dancing and The Presentation College Trad Group. An event not to be missed. Tickets will be available on the night, all welcome. Admission €10.

The amazing Kings of Connaught will play the Festival Concert at the Ard Rí Hotel on Friday September 15th. Tickets €10.00 available from Quinn's shop, Bishop Street and the Hotel reception.

This year's event will feature several workshops which are currently open for booking.

Workshops will take place on Saturday 16th. Sudents wishing to attend can book a place by emailing: tuamtradfestival@gmail.com.
Full workshop details are available here.

This year the festival will host three Young Traditional Musicians' awards: under 12 yrs, under 16 yrs and under 21 yrs. Details and application form are available here. The finals will be held in Tuam on Saturday 16th during the festival. This year as always the festival also will bestow an Hall of Fame award which celebrates a life long achievement in Irish Music. The recipient of the award will be honoured during the festival.

A Tuam Singers' Club event will be held in Reapy's bar on Saturday September 16th, hosted by Padriac King.

The Tatch bar will host a CD launch night for the very talented Tommy Guihen on Saturday September 16th.

There will be a Traditional Dance workshop on Sunday September 17, 11am-1pm in the Corralea Court Hotel with Marie Greaney.

An Art Exhibition of the works of Nicola Fallon will be held in the Corralea Court Hotel throughout the weekend.

This three day event will also feature concerts, dancing exhibitions, busking competitions, pub sessions, recitals, sean nos dancing, competitions a market and a Ceili with The Shaskeen Ceili Band will be held at the Ard Ri Hotel on Sat night 16th September.

This year we are asking all our sponsors and patrons to dig deep as the hosting of a festival this size can amount to huge costs and to date we have only been allocated €1500.00 from Galway County Council, If there is anyone out there that would like to hold a fundraiser for the festival we would be delighted and it would greatly appreciated.

This year Jigs and Reels will be back and details will be announced shortly, again we have many talented people willing to take part and it is such a great night. This will be a fundraiser held by the committee here in town.

Anyone with queries about the festival should contact the committee through email at tuamtradfestival@gmail.com or phone 085 8637273.
